Here at Furnished Apartments D.C., we want to introduce you to the capital city of the world's most powerful nation. Washington, D.C. is a city thriving with diverse neighborhoods and interesting people. Each neighborhood has something different to offer, making it easy to find someplace you like but difficult to choose just one.
Dupont Circle
Named after Civil War hero Samuel Du Pont, Dupont Circle is a place where you can find a rich array of activities to partake in. It's considered to be one of the most fascinating and diverse neighborhoods in D.C. It is here that you find the Phillips Collection and Hillyer Art Space art galleries. You also find many embassies, non-profit organizations, and bookstores that line the Dupont Circle traffic circle and park. And Dupont Circle is also where the largest concentration of gays reside in Washington. With so many restaurants, cafes, and bars lining the streets, you have plenty of choices for places to eat and to congregate.
Foggy Bottom
Foggy Bottom is one of Washington D.C.'s oldest neighborhoods, though it is not a good neighborhood for short term rentals D.C. (there just aren't many to be found around here). However, Foggy Bottom is where you will find some of the more famous buildings in Washington, including the Kennedy Center, the Watergate Complex and the Pan-American Health Organization.
Arlington
Located just across the Potomac River from Washington, Arlington offers plenty of opportunities for furnished apartments in D.C. There are over 200,000 residents in Arlington, making for a rich and diverse population. The commute from Arlington to D.C. is very quick, whether via Metro, Bus, or taxi, which makes it one of the most popular and convenient locations for those working inside the Beltway who wish to reside outside the Beltway. Clarendon is one of the most prominent neighborhoods within Arlington, with many pubs, bars, and restaurants to suit all tastes. And in nearby Ballston (another of the most popular Arlington neighborhoods), you will find plenty of shopping locations including the beautiful Ballston Common Mall. Arlington is perhaps best-known as the location of both the Pentagon and the Arlington National Cemetery. You will also find the historic Iwo Jima Memorial here.
Capitol Hill
Capitol Hill is often thought of as the heart of U.S. politics. It is where you find the Capitol Building, which is where Congress sessions take place. In addition to the Capitol Building, you will also find Eastern Market and Union Station. Perhaps the most striking feature of Capitol Hill is the architecture of the neighborhood, which is worth a visit all by itself. The residential neighborhood area of Capital Hill is a good place for D.C. short term rentals. In fact, it is fast becoming one of the most popular new D.C. neighborhoods. There are a number of hip bars, restaurants, cafes, and bookstores here, and a burgeoning gay scene as well. There is also the thriving Eastern Market, which operates on the weekends only.
Bethesda
You will find several choices for D.C. furnished apartments in Bethesda. A popular place for younger people, with a pretty quiet and laid back atmosphere, Bethesda offers a wide range of restaurants, all within walking distance of the Bethesda Metro station, and you can be fairly sure you'll get a pretty good meal at almost any of the eateries you decide to try here. Bethesda's also a good neighborhood for those who enjoy a nice stroll, as you do not have to deal with much of the congested traffic you find in other Metro D.C. areas.
Penn Quarter
There are a lot of furnished apartments in D.C. in Penn Quarter, though they may be difficult to come by since this is a highly desirable living area. The neighborhood was once relatively quiet, but is now bustling with activity thanks to the Verizon Center, where the NHL's Washington Capitals and NBA's Washington Wizards play. Penn Quarter is also home to some of D.C.'s most popular restaurants, such as Indian restaurant Rasika and pizzeria Matchbox.
Georgetown
Another popular neighborhood for younger people, Georgetown is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Washington, D.C. Georgetown offers a wide variety of designer boutiques, restaurants, cafés and bars. It is also home to the Old Stone House, which is the oldest house in the city. Early American colonial architecture and brick sidewalks are common in this most famous of D.C. neighborhoods, which began as an 18th century tobacco port town. Unfortunately, the Metro rail system doesn't run through this part of D.C., so you'll have to become familiar with the buses, or splurge for a taxi to get here.
Adams Morgan
One of the more interesting neighborhoods in D.C. is Adams Morgan. In this neighborhood you will find outdoor murals on display. It also has a wide variety of ethnic restaurants and trendy shops, and is generally considered to be the best multicultural residential area in Washington. The neighborhood also has a very lively atmosphere during weekend nights, and is considered by many to be one of the trendiest spots for nightlife in D.C. It must also be noted that this neighborhood is just two miles from the White House. Adams Morgan is definitely a good area in which to find a short term rental in D.C.
Crystal City
Crystal City is south of downtown Washington and is an excellent choice for short term rentals D.C. It is an urban neighborhood that is just a short walk away from the National Airport. You will find lots of hotels, restaurants, stores and commercial offices here. Perhaps the main feature, however, is the neighborhood's underground shops and walkways.
